Excessive self-confidence
by Warren on December 29, 2016
I want to talk about a silent epidemic that is growing not just in this country, but worldwide: rampant excessive self-confidence.
In our feelgood age we spend a lot of time talking about the low esteem of those less fortunate. It’s important people reduce anxiety with optimal self-worth.
What doesn’t get mentioned is the difficulty of people with excessive self-confidence – which is to say an overblown sense of their own capacities, their value to society, and entitlement.
There are active campaigns to boost self-esteem, but why the strange taboo about making sure these zealously self-confident assholes receive extra doses of humility?
I’d defend everyone’s right to be a unique asshole if it didn’t affect others. The brazenly excessively self-confident take a lot of well-meaning folk with them when their incompetence is exposed, or worse, continues to remain taboo and unmentionable even when the evidence is stacked against them.
Kindly help keep a colleague humble today. You’ll be doing your bit to make the world a better place.
